There’s something inspiring about mixing styles, it creates a new hybrid look that leaves you feeling fresh and trendy. This week’s Fashionista made an excellent choice and mixed rock ‘n’ roll inspired pieces with a western statement jacket. Her leather pants and gold toed shoes embodied her inner Janis Joplin while her southwestern jacket and jewelry showed off her Joss Stone persona. In the good ol’ words of Donny and Marie Osmond she is “a little bit country and a little bit rock ‘n’ roll!”

CollegeFashionista: Tell me about what you’re wearing.
Cheyenne Nichols: I’m wearing a Ralph Lauren jacket with leather pants from The Basement Marketplace and a pair of booties from DSW.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
CN: I would describe my style as eclectic. I mostly wear southwestern boho and a little rock ‘n’ roll.
CF: What inspires your style?
CN: Well lately I’ve been really inspired by Cara Delevingne’s style, but my everlasting inspiration comes from my heritage. I have a little Cherokee in me so I love to embody that spirit within my style.
CF: Everyone has that one go-to item, what’s yours?
CN: My go-to item is my leather pants because they’re versatile and edgy.
CF: Where’s your favorite place to shop?
CN: I have always loved Free People because of their free spirited and artistic appeal. Plus I have such a strong love for bohemian style.
CF: Being a college student, how do you stay on budget when shopping for the latest trends?
CN: I like to explore thrift shops, I can save money while finding really interesting pieces. One time I actually found a beautiful beaded top from Paris, it was a steal!
How To: Take a cue from this Arizona Sweetheart and don’t be afraid to mix style genres. You can start by pairing bold skinnies with an oversized eclectic sweater. Then when it comes to jewelry, go crazy! Have fun with teal and gold accented pieces that brighten up your outfit and bring it to life. Finally pick a pair of black leather booties or wedges to dress up the look!
