When I saw this Fashionista walking through campus a smile immediately grew across my face. Her outfit reminded me of the relaxing days of summer that lie just around the corner. Her bold bohemian influence was something to be admired as most students around finals time begin sporting only simple shorts and T-shirts (not that there is anything wrong with that!). Just keep this Fashionista in mind next time you are feeling tired and stressed. Maybe her outfit will inspire you to create an outfit that will put a smile on someone else’s face too!
Name: Cara Marsicano
Major: Psychology and Special Education
CollegeFashionista: What is your favorite summer trend?
Cara Marsicano: My favorite summer trend would have to be maxi dresses and maxi skirts, I wear them all summer.
CF: What are three things you have to make sure fit into your suitcase before you go on vacation?
CM: Well I always need my blow dryer, because the humidity messes up my hair. I also need to make sure I have my white jeans on vacation and bathing suits — you can never have to many of those!
CF: Where would you recommend shopping for your favorite getaway clothing?
CM: I always go to Lord and Taylor with my mom before I go away on vacation to buy bathing suits, sundresses and outfits to go out in.
CF: How do you keep looking cool and chic in the summer heat?
CM: Well, I rock a romper 24/7.
CF: Do you feel like your makeup regiment changes as temperature begin to rise?
CM: Well, I change my Bobbie Brown tone from beige to tan! I would also say in the summer I don’t wear any blush because my checks have a natural flush from the sun.
How To: To create this classic summer bohemian look, first try a trendy maxi skirt. A lace skirt like this Fashionista’s can help you keep cool while still looking fashionable. Next, wear a simple white crop top that can match any skirt you choose. You can wear any sandal with this outfit, but to mimic this Fashionista’s choose a pair that have braided straps. Last, accessorize with a pair of aviators and a headband to keep your hair back in the heat.
