Many students on campus have been giving presentations in their classes in preparation for the end of the semester and their classes. I am always intrigued by how others interpret a business casual dress code, and I love when I see an outfit outside of the box of a button-down and blazer. This Fashionista caught my eye in her professional coat that is still feminine and stylish with ruffle details. A coat like this is great for a professional setting but also works for days when you don’t love your outfit. It is kind of like wearing a cute hat when you’re having a bad hair day. Either way you can’t go wrong!

CollegeFashionista: How does finals week affect your style?
Brookley Valencia: During finals week my style becomes a lot more relaxed. I wear loose shirts, leggings, boots and I accessorize with scarves and cardigans.
CF: What is your favorite fashion season and why?
BV: My favorite fashion season is fall. Nothing is better then Alabama in the fall. I love boots, scarves, tights, big coats and the color scheme that goes along with fall.
CF: What is your favorite trend right now?
BV: My favorite trend right now is how the color white is “in” even after that “no white after labor day” rule. I also love vests and statement necklaces.
CF: What inspires your style? Pinterest, Tumblr, magazines, celebrities etc.
BV: Anything inspires my style. Magazines and Pinterest are both good ways to get inspired.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
BV: My personal style differs everyday. I usually dress more bohemian, but I like edgy and dark, bright and whimsical, classy and feminine and really just about anything.
How To: This Fashionista’s look is simple but effective. Look for a coat in a thick material that hits at mid-thigh or longer so you don’t see what’s underneath. Her color combination of the camel coat and black wedges is lovely and definitely on trend. Her outfit is amazing as is, but if she wanted to add any extras, black opaque tights and a black scarf would look great.
