Entering into October, the fall weather continues to fluctuate. With one day warm and the next day cold, how can one find the perfect in between that accommodates the unpredictable fall weather? The answer is simple: mixing and matching. Mixing and matching can mean a multitude of different things. Whether you are mixing patterns or matching different seasonal pieces together, mastering mixing and matching can allow you to stand out, as well as be dressed for many different occasions all in one outfit. I spotted this Fashionista who was dressed for class, yet appeared to be prepared for any other occasion given! What better way to welcome in October and the new autumn season?
Name: Brittany Finkley
Major: Elementary Education
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Brittany Finkley: Boots from PacSun, a sweater from the Garment District in Cambridge, Massachusetts, black dress from Zara, faux-fur vest from Forever 21, a bag from H&M and a Guess watch.
CF: Who are your fashion inspirations?
BF: I like Victoria Beckham. She’s really edgy and is on top of things. June Ambrose, also.
CF: Describe your style in one sentence.
BF: Something that is never the same. Or, something that will make you want to stop and look at.
CF: If you could add one thing to your outfit right now, what would it be?
How To: To recreate this look, wear your most comfortable sweater (I would recommend a patterned sweater) over a simple dress. Although the focus would be on the sweater, the dress has the ability of appearing as either a skirt or a dress. Over your sweater, throw on a comfy vest, such as one similar to this Fashionista’s faux-fur vest. With all of these elements mixed and matched into one, you can add a multitude of fashions all into one outfit. Additionally, the dress and sweater balance each other in preparation for any fall temperature. For whatever occasion you are dressing for, or whichever mood you wake up in, an outfit with many different elements can satisfy a number of different wants and needs!
