Summer calls for lazy, sunny days with family and friends. It is the best season to showcase your more simple pieces and not place an emphasis on chunky sweaters or heavy winter boots. This Fashionista knows exactly what I mean and does a perfect job showing off her chic, simple style by pairing a lightweight tee with a great pair of high-waisted jean shorts – channeling a makeshift Canadian tuxedo look. She also adds a little grunge by sporting a worn in pair of boots and a unique skull ring. With comfort in mind, this New York native knows how to mix simple pieces to spice up her look.
Name: Brigid Chillemi
CollegeFashionista: Can you tell me a little bit about you’re look today?
Brigid Chillemi: My shirt is from Zara and my shorts are NASTY GAL. My boots are Dr. Martens and I’ve worn them probably everyday for the last three years. My style is all about comfort but with some edge. You can never go wrong with a pair of cut offs.
CF: What is your favorite piece in your closet?
BC: My new short distressed overalls from ASOS. They are always fun to wear and it is a super easy outfit to throw on.
CF: What is one accessory you can’t live without?
BC: My claddagh ring. I don’t go anywhere without it. It was my mom’s first ring and I got it when I was about 15. It is really valuable to me.
CF: What is something you’re really looking forward to wearing in the upcoming fall season?
BC: I am so excited to wear zip-up hoodies and leather jackets. It is my go-to everyday in the fall. I’m obsessed with the laid back look with a little bit of an edge.
How To: Attempting a simpler look? This “denim on denim” can be done easily (especially in this heat) with a light tee like this one. Urban Renewal makes the perfect pair of high-waisted cut offs. Top it off and add a fun accessory like this Lucky Brand gold spike ring.
