Summer doesn’t have to end just because fall is here. Why do you have to break out the muted browns, grays and blacks just because we’re changing seasons? This Fashionista contributes that idea perfectly with her colorful and vibrant style. In this look she dons a vintage floral dress that she found from a thrift shop, classic Sperry Top-Siders, a Forever 21 hair bow and necklace and, of course, a Coach handbag. Although floral print might not be something that every one can pull off like this fashionista, it is still a perfect idea to add pops of color to your wardrobe during more typically neutral times of the year.
Name: Breanne Stokes
Year: 2012 Graduate from Adrian College
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Breanne Stokes: I would describe my style as simple, yet creatively unique. I like to have outfits that make a statement in a good way.
CF: What is one of your daily must-wear items?
BS: I like wearing different headbands that match to various outfits. Accessories are key for me!
CF: What are some trends that you like and have been noticing over the past years?
BS: I have been noticing the floral pattern beginning to take off again, especially since it was big in the ’60s and ’70s with the paisley craze. I like how they recreated it during the past few years. I feel that it adds the perfect color, sassiness and frill that I need for an outfit.
CF: What is your ideal Fall outfit?
BS: I would have to say a burnt yellow leather jacket, some orange-red denim jeans and brown suede knee high boots.
How To: Get this Fashionista’s vibrant look by pairing a bold pattern in the center of the outfit and coordinating solid colors around that pattern. Since we are heading into fall, and if you want to mute the colors slightly, then try going with colors in the red, orange and yellow family. This will allow you to blend more with the changing leaves, while still adding a pop of color to your wardrobe. Don’t be caught drab this fall and definitely do not let the leaves have more color than your outfit! Be bold, be stylish and most importantly be you!
