One of the best perks of winter is the power of a scarf. Scarves can make even the most boring outfit into something fun and fabulous. Different colors, textures, mixed patterns and crazy prints can go a long way—it’s such an easy trend to sport. And while it seems basic, scarves are certainly a fashion trend that will never go out of style. Whether it’s a heavy wool infinity scarf that works as a barrier to the cold, or a light and colorful, patterned spring scarf that can be worn even into the summer months. They have become more of a necessity to an outfit than simply an accessory. I spotted this Fashionista on my college campus because I really admired her classic black and white scarf. I always love a touch of simplicity—especially with my favorite black/white combo. Her scarf, black boots, and black sweater are all balanced out perfectly with her Brandy Melville burgundy red leggings. They are just the perfect subtle amount of color to break up the black and give this outfit some originality and flair.

CF: What is your favorite way to accessorize?
AC: I’m always wearing my rings they’re my favorite accessory. I wear all different kinds of rings, usually silver. I like to stack them together depending on whatever particular mood I’m in. Specifically, my Kappa key ring and one that my grandma gave me are two that I wear every single day.
CF: How would you describe your style?
AC: My style is definitely casual and comfortable… especially for class.
How To: This look is super easy to create. If you don’t already own a classic black sweater, trust me… this is a worthwhile investment. Black sweaters are so convenient with any patterned or colored scarf, or with a pair of bold colored leggings like this Fashionista here. Her sweater is particularly unique because of its open V back. TOBI and Urban Outfitters are two hot spots for sweater shopping, as well as funky leggings! Throw a basic scarf over your outfit to complete the look, and to help you take on the cold. And there you have it!
