When it comes to fashion, I love a bit of whimsy. I am absolutely for anything that recalls the beauty of fairy tales, the mystery of worlds like those of Lewis Carroll or the magic of something as simple as traveling. Such whimsy, in my opinion, translates most beautifully through small details, be they pastel colors, floral prints or vintage graphics. So when I spotted this Fashionista’s scarf, a J.Crew gem adorned with travel destinations printed in vintage letters, I just had to know more. This Fashionista combined her scarf with simple and elegant pieces to create a look that is magical in the everyday.
Name: Anna Katz
Major: History and Literature/Writing
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Anna Katz: I am wearing a black blouse from J.Crew, a travel-themed, patterned scarf also from J.Crew, a pair of jeans from American Eagle Outfitters and nude, pointed flats from BP. at Nordstrom.
CF: If you could borrow the wardrobe of any fictional character (from television, movies, books, etc.), whose would it be and why?
AK: I would love to borrow clothes from the evil queen in the ABC show Once Upon a Time, but only when she’s in the Enchanted Forest. Those clothes are so elaborate and creative. I also love Mary Margaret’s clothes from the same show! They’re really simple and cute; her apartment is great, too. The décor looks likes something out of ModCloth!
CF: If your style were a country, which one would it be?
AK: I would say my personal style would be Genovia from The Princess Diaries. It’s a fictional country, but hey! It still counts. I mean, it’s right between France and Italy, what more could you want?
How To: To steal this Fashionista’s classic look, begin with a relaxed blouse in a dark color. Navy, black or emerald green work perfectly! Next, add a touch of whimsy with a fun patterned scarf. I love this Fashionista’s destination-inspired scarf; floral and striped patterns are simple and elegant, as well. Throw on your favorite pair of jeans in a medium wash and finish the look off with a pair of chic pointed flats in nude. You’re set to fall through the looking glass!
