What first caught my eye in this Fashionista’s outfit was her denim skater skirt. This skirt is a beautiful piece for summer days. After I looked closer, I realized this Fashionista has more than just great style, she has an eye for accessories. From her gold plated headband down to her sparkled sandals and all the jewels in between, I fell in love. But what sold me on this outfit most is her gorgeous statement jewelry, especially her necklace!
After complimenting her on her taste, she revealed that she has her own jewelry boutique! The necklace was hers! An accomplished businesswoman entering her senior year of college, this Fashionista knows all about style down from clothing to simple and bold accessories. Watch for this Fashionista in the years to come!
Name: Anna Gilbert
Major: Retail Consumer Science
CollegeFashionista: Who is your fashion icon?
Anna Gilbert: My fashion icon would probably be Alexa Chung. It really just depends on how I’m feeling everyday. Some days it would be Leandra Medine of Man Repeller. I love Alexa’s and Leandra’s styles because they aren’t scared to dress how they feel. It’s very apparent. If they want to wear a top because it’s awesome and makes them feel good, they do it. Dressing yourself is all about what makes you feel good. So, that is what I do.
CF: How would you describe your own closet?
AG: I would describe my closet as comfy. I do have great going out outfits, but they really are few and far between. If you need an oversized sweater, a big chambray (I wear one that is my late grandfather’s almost everyday) or a funky big top, come shop my closet.
CF: what inspired you to start your jewelry boutique?
AG: I decided to start Anna’s Armoire because I found myself spending all of my money on jewelry. By my sophomore year of college I had acquired many staple apparel items so that’s when I started wanting to jazz them all up with jewelry. That’s when Anna’s Armoire began! I can’t believe it took off so quickly.
CF: What designer would you wear to the Oscars?
AG: Well I currently can’t afford many designers so I would probably borrow something vintage from my oh-so chic grandmother if the Oscars were tomorrow. But if I had some time to save I would probably go with someone everyone loves…Oscar de la Renta. I would choose something neutral but sparkly. Oscar de la Renta cannot disappoint.
How To: Jeans are probably the one item, which no matter what, is an automatic go-to in one’s closet. Find something that compliments your personality and style! Then, pair your denim bottoms with a more lightweight carefree fabric, like this chiffon top. Check out Anna’s Armoire to find your perfect accessories! By adding sunglasses, a statement necklace or eye-catching shoes, your outfit has gone from daily-wear to ultimate street-style.
