FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Anita Wu

Fashionista Spotlight

Coping with the harsh winter weather means excessive layering, cozy scarves, multiple coffee runs and lots of hand lotion. Today’s Fashionista, who hails from London, didn’t let the cold get the best of her with a fur-lined jacket, a burgundy turtleneck and adorable ankle boots. The burgundy and green color combination gives her look a subtle festive touch that works perfectly for a day of class, group projects or final presentations.

CollegeFashionista: How would you compare the style in London to Boston?

Anita Wu: I think it can be hard to say depending on where you are in both cities. British style can encompass a variety of looks, from graphic edgier prints to polished and preppier attire. I wear different outfits based on where I’m going and what I’m doing when I’m in London. In Boston, however, it is much easier. People dress more relaxed and casual than back home. Here, you can go out with a North Face jacket, a jumper, jeans and long boots and you’re done for the day.

CF: Describe your style in three words.

AW: Comfy, cozy and chic.

CF: If you could raid any celebrity’s closet, whose would it be and why?

AW: Kate Moss, Vanessa Hudgens and Rachel Bilson are always winners with me. But right now, I’m coveting Made In Chelsea‘s (a British reality television show) Millie Mackintosh’s closet. It’s head to toe gorgeous.

CF: What is one trend you would never be caught wearing?

AW: Anything that involves a lot of neon or clashing loud prints.

CF: What is your favorite part about dressing for winter?

AW: Layering textures and being able to bundle up in lush coats, scarves and gloves! Ankle boots and thick pashminas are always something nice to wear when the temperature drops. Thick cable knit jumpers are a terrible weakness of mine.

How To: To achieve this chic outfit, look through my latest eBay collection for some must-have pieces. First, find a burgundy turtleneck sweater. You can layer it over a button-down and pair it with jeans or a quilted skirt and tights for a cute holiday look. Next, find a pair of Chelsea boots that you can wear with either ensemble. To stay warm, layer with a fur lined coat and knit scarf and you’ll be set for all winter break festivities.
