Fashionista Spotlight

The “Less is More” theory is one that has time and time again been proven to be one of the best in fashion. It can mean several things such as putting together a simple, yet chic outfit or finding name brands for less at stores like Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. Or like style icon and Hollywood actress Emma Watson once said, “the less you reveal, the more people can wonder.” I found a Fashionista with this mentality who knows what she likes. And following her graduation this month, she will enter the real world with her smart style.

Name: Andrea Woods

Major: Allied Health / Pre-Nursing

Class: Senior

CollegeFashionista: Where did you get the pieces from your outfit?

Andrea Woods: My romper, chambray button-down and jewelry are from Forever 21. My bag is from a boutique in Houston and my boots are Steve Madden. I’m also wearing my Aggie Ring!

CF: Describe your style in three words.

AW: My style is cute, simple and comfortable. I don’t like to over do it. Less is more.

CF: Which spring and summer trends are you ready to try or have already started?

AW: I want more maxi dresses and skirt. New styles and prints are everywhere. Also, my last year at Texas A&M is up and I am ready to start a whole new closet!

CF: What makes your outfits stand out more? Hair and make-up? Or shoes and accessories?

AW: Well, they all do. If my hair isn’t done, it’s impossible to tell how I really look. Shoes are a no-brainer and accessories add more to a simpler outfit. Make-up depends on where I am going. Again, less is more.

CF: Along with “Less is More,” do you have any other style or fashion advice for your fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos?

AW: Sure. If you don’t like something, don’t buy it just because everyone else did. Your style is yours for a reason. Just be you.

How To: You to can embody “Less is More” like this Fashionista. You can either wear less, spend less, reveal less or all three. Buy this lace slip dress from Forever 21 for $16 instead the similar $50 dress from Urban Outfitters. You can buy a moto jacket from Nordstrom for $126 or you can buy this studded jacket for only $35. And I’ll take this strappy sandal from Aldo for $60 over this pair by Steve Madden for $99. Now, you are ready to head out for a night with your girlfriends and look like a million bucks. No one has to know you spent just over $100.
