Fashionista Spotlight

Today’s Fashionista may follow trends but she knows how to put her own twist on things. She shares with us her style inspirations and how her style has evolved from her younger days.

Name: Amanda Lemus

Major: Biology

Year: Freshman

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?

Amanda Lemus: A little bit of everything with a splash of uniqueness. I usually follow trends but I tend to make it my own.

CF: Where do you get your style inspiration from?

AL: I draw a lot of my inspiration from Pinterest, Tumblr and fashion blogs.

CF: Do you have a favorite brand or store that you like to shop at?

AL: I like American Rag from Macy’s because it is very vintage and bohemian-inspired. I like that I can take any piece from this brand and pair it with anything that doesn’t have that vintage or bohemian feel and it still looks good.

CF: How has your style evolved over time?

AL: I think I am getting out of that teenage phase where all I would wear was girly sundresses. Now I’m into wearing pants and heels and just trying to mature my look.

CF: What are you looking forward to wearing the most this spring?

AL: I am looking forward to wearing a lot of pastel colors. I am also looking forward to wearing more lavender-colored pieces, joggers and harem pants.

CF: Do you have any advice you would like to share for our Fashionista/os out there?

AL: Go with what you feel comfortable in and do your own thing.

How To: To recreate this Fashionista’s look, pair a black blouse with a pair of joggers and black flats. If you want to be fearless, opt for a crop top and add some wedges to this ensemble. Just have fun with it and follow today’s Fashionista advice, “Do your own thing.”
