FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Amanda Cooper

Fashionista Spotlight

It’s safe to say spring has officially sprung, but summer is on everyone’s mind. With one short month left of this semester, many students at USC are finding it difficult to pay attention due to contagious spring fever with side effects of summer daydreams. In terms of style, the dark, solid colors of winter have been replaced by a favored springtime trend—bohemian.

With Coachella on her mind, this Fashionista’s bohemian festival-inspired outfit has ruffles, fringe and lace in all the right places. Although her use of color is a palette of neutrals, each piece of her ensemble contributes a unique texture towards her outfit display. From the multi-colored tassels of her cardigan to the studs on her ankle boots, these features make this Fashionista’s outfit of the day look far from ordinary.

Name: Amanda Cooper

Major: Public Relations

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: What inspired you to pick out the outfit you’re wearing today?

Amanda Cooper: The warm weather! This dress is one of my favorites, and it’s directly out of my roommates closet. On a college budget, it is essential to have a fashionable roommates willing to share their clothes — lucky for me, I have four.

CF: How would you describe your personal style?

AC: I would describe my style as bohemian chic. I love flowy tops and skirts that have a vintage feel, but I’m also a sucker for bold patterns.

CF: Who are your style icons or sources of fashion sense?

AC: My style icons are the Olsen twins and Olivia Palermo. I have an embarrassing amount of pictures of them on my Pinterest fashion board.

CF: Name one item of clothing/an accessory you can’t leave the house without.

AC: My gold amethyst ring that belonged to my Grandma — she gave it to me on my last birthday and it hasn’t left my finger since — and a pair of sunglasses to combat the bright South Carolina sun.

How To: This Fashionista’s incorporation of simple features makes her ensemble aesthetically pleasing. Her use of fringe, ruffles and lace at the bottom of her cardigan and dress enables her look to appear graceful, lean and free-flowing. This tip is very beneficial for shorter Fashionistas who want to achieve length within their outfits without wearing heels. Step this free-spirit look up with the addition of a neutral floppy hat, which might come in handy for those soon-to-be extra sunny days.
