Snow this past week has kept students here at Brigham Young University in their warm winter coats. At least Phil the groundhog says there are only six more weeks until spring. Until then, however, Fashionistas and Fashionistos will still find ways to continue dressing well despite the cold weather. This Fashionista knows all about that in her cute Banana Republic beanie and Old Navy winter parka. Staying warm and fashionable during the winter is all about finding cute and warm winter essentials to mix and match with, like scarves, beanies and coats. A few of each in different colors will help any Fashionista create different looks every day all winter long. Thankfully we can start dressing warm soon, though, instead of having to bundle up for our treks to class.
Name: Alicia Watkins
CollegeFashionista: Favorite winter season trend?
Alicia Watkins: My favorite winter season trend would have to be some of the highlighter bright and candy color trends I’ve seen. There is nothing like some bright pinks and yellows to cheer me up.
CF: If you had just $100 to spice up your wardrobe this season, what would you buy and where would you buy it?
AW: I would run to Sephora and indulge in some new makeup. When I’m putting together an outfit, I want to look put together from head to toe. I know that makeup can spice up any look whether it is a bright lip or a smoky eye.
CF: What motivates you to dress cute?
AW: I would say I am always striving to be the best possible version of myself. This includes dressing up every day so I can feel classy and fabulous in everything I do. I love this quote, and I think it is so true: “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”- Rachel Zoe
CF: What is your go-to date item?
AW: My go-to date item would have to be booties; a little heel gives every outfit that oomph it needs.
CF: What is a fashion pet peeve of yours?
AW: My fashion pet peeve would have to be men who wear skirts – let’s just scream together!
How To: For a classic winter outfit like Alicia wear a warm winter parka, with chic black skinnies and black wedged TOMS shoes. Carry your books in a larger handbag, add some classic black Ray-Ban shades and top it all off with a fun beanie. You will stay warm and swaggin’ until spring.
