Fashionista Spotlight

Ok, so we all know California needed rain. Now that it has finally arrived (better late than never right?), us San Francisco Fashionistas have to adapt to this wet weather. This week’s Fashionista makes this drab weather look fab by combining cold weather pieces like a sweater and leather patched leggings with some colored booties and a statement necklace. Rainy days have never looked so good!

Name: Alexis Taylor

Major: Business Administration

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?

Alexis Taylor: My sweater is from Forever 21. My cami under my sweater and my pants are both from H&M. These booties are Eddie Bauer from T.J. Maxx. This purse is a Coach classic from a thrift store in the city. My necklace is from J.Crew, and I am wearing Ray-Ban sunglasses.

CF: Where do you usually shop?

AT: I love thrift stores like Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads Trading Co. You can find awesome clothes and vintage pieces for really cheap. I also like H&M, T.J. Maxx, Forever 21, J.Crew and Urban Outfitters.

CF: What are you excited to wear this spring?

AT: I love pleated skirts. They are easy to wear and super feminine, but you can pair them with booties or sandals and either a jean jacket or a leather jacket. It’s a super versatile piece.

CF: If you could raid one celebrity or fashion icon’s closet, who would it be and why?

AT: Either Blake Lively or Reese Witherspoon. I love that Reese Witherspoon has a really classic and timeless look, but Blake Lively has more of a modern day, girly edge.

CF: What is your favorite piece in your closet right now?

AT: I love my booties – these red ones and a pair of black ones I have at home. I like to pair them with my J.Crew jeans, leggings or a great sundress.

CF: What three pieces should every Fashionista have in her closet?

AT: A little black dress, a great pair of jeans and a classic white button-down shirt.

CF: How would you describe your style?

AT: I would say classic, a little preppy and when I go out at night, girly with an edge.

How To: A hint of leather goes a long way for day or night, rain or shine. A leather jacket, leather leggings or leather booties can really edge up any outfit and help it transition easily from day to night. You can even try a colored leather jacket for spring. For rainy or colder spring days, layer a pair of leather leggings with a stylish raincoat and a comfy patterned sweater. Add some unique accessories like a statement necklace or turban headband. Don’t forget that umbrella!
