Florals for spring may not be the most groundbreaking idea you’ve ever heard, as Miranda Presley said in The Devil Wears Prada, but that doesn’t mean they’re not fabulous! Florals seem to make their way into spring fashion every year, therefore they’re definitely a must-have for every Fashionista’s. This week’s Fashionista worked a gorgeous floral dress, but there are a million different ways to work florals into your wardrobe this season!
Name: Alessandra Cigna
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Alessandra Cigna: Today I’m wearing a floral, high-low dress from LF, my favorite pair of shoes by Rosegold, a beige Gianni Chiarini purse, a Burberry watch and blue Chanel sunglasses.
CF: It’s almost summer! What are you most excited to wear?
AC: There’s nothing I love more than being able to wear dresses. Now that the weather has finally turned for the better in D.C., I plan on wearing them far more often than I was able to during the colder months! Not only are they the easiest in my opinion, but also a single piece that you can toss on before an early class. There are so many different cuts and styles out for the summer season that I believe a flattering dress exists for everyone.
CF: What do you recommend wearing with floral prints?
AC: When accessorizing floral articles of clothing, I believe that less is definitely more because floral can make a bold statement all by itself. I think it’s best to accessorize with items that highlight one or two colors within the pattern.
CF: How do you take high-low skirts and dresses from day to night?
AC: To take high-low skirts and dresses from day to night, it’s crucial to sport a sky-high pair of heels or wedges. Adding a blazer can also do the trick, and will keep you warm when traveling from place to place, or hanging out at an outdoor lounge. To complete the look add some of your favorite jewelry and a chic clutch!
How To: In honor of springtime, I’ve found three different styles of florals perfect for any occasion. First, try a floral high low dress, like this week’s Fashionista, with neutral sandals or wedges. If you’d rather wear a skirt try this one with a solid tank, a fun necklace and nude heels. Last but not least, try a floral top with a great pair of white jeans and a pair of gold sandals or heels. Florals are here to stay so make sure your closet is rocking from flower power!
