FASHION FROM ABROAD: Dressing Down the Dress

Fashion From Abroad

If you are anything like me, you are already tiring of my fall wardrobe. Any cute outfit is bound to get somewhat covered by a coat or jacket, and my constant rotation of outerwear is wearing on me. This may be just my penchant to get tired of things absurdly quickly. I have been wracking my brain of how to spice up my fall wardrobe to include some other pieces from other seasons. It was this week’s Fashionista rocking a dress under a sweater that made me think, who said cold weather had to mean frumpy clothes?

This week’s Fashionista epitomizes casual chic. She was spotted wearing a gorgeous light maroon tulip-hemmed dress with a black sweater over the top. This is the perfect way to transition your dresses into the cooler months. While many times wearing a dress to class may seem a bit over the top, by pairing a comfortable sweater on top, it not only keeps you warm, but also dresses the outfit down while still remaining stylish. The outfit is made even more casual by adding some embellished combat boots and tights. The addition of black accessories such as the embellished boots and bag in conjunction with her gorgeous J.Crew bubble necklace help streamline the outfit and create a nice silhouette.

If you find yourself tiring of your cold weather gear but can’t afford a complete closet overhaul, try and mix it up by adding pieces from different seasons! Layering is a great way to create new outfits with what you already have.
