FASHION FROM ABROAD: Take A Bow

It is always a pleasant surprise when someone cannot only challenge, but also change your fashion beliefs. One of my most ingrained fashion don’ts is, and always has been, pattern mixing. I think it’s the inconsistency and purposeful clashing that has always kept me at arms length, but there are times, this being one of them, when I turn around and stop.

This adorable Parisian Fashionista was out shopping with her family when I caught the beautiful contrast of French stripes and those gorgeous harem pants. The subtly of the tan stripes matches the tan in the floral design (all about that color-blocking) and blends perfectly with the brown lace-up sandals. Light, breezy and completely comfortable, this chic fille was ready for anything.

Harem pants have been around for a while and have resurfaced in bulk these past few years. Not only are they incredibly agile, but they also dress up any outfit in a way jeans or leggings fail to. Though she’s simply wearing a T-shirt, there is an inevitable level of style and ownership of dress that is expressed through her audacity to mix two unlikely patterns. Loose fitting pants, whether they be harem or trousers, are a common trend in Paris.

Hands down, the most personal touch to this Fashionista’s adorable ensemble is her hair bow. Scarves are an essential in France, but how you wear them is completely up to you. Taking initiative and a probably a YouTube tutorial or two, this Fashionista created a giant satin hair bow to literally tie up the look. Though it seems like there might be too much going on, the neutral colors and light fabrics help balance the overall aesthetic and create a truly unique look.
