Spring is finally making its way into the typical London forecast. Although the breeze is still high, and the dark clouds loom overhead, the temperature in the air is noticeably warmer. The need for two coats throughout the day is no more, and even a simple jacket can be too much against the sun beaming down. The locals flock to Hyde Park, crowds linger along the Thames and the streets are crawling with happy tourists. Everyone is swapping out their winter coats for lighter wear. Although the breeze can be chilly at times, we’re more than ready to take on the London spring.
While I was was leaving the Tate Modern this week, I happened to come across this week’s Fashionista. Sporting a great transitional outfit from winter to spring, she wears a pair of simple leggings and gray boots. Her boots offset her black leggings and compliment her blouse. It may be spring, but with all the walking about town it’s important to be prepared. Her top is the symbol of spring time with colorful florals on a chiffon Oxford blouse. It is light enough when the sun comes out but the long sleeves are perfect protection when the wind comes around. The spring feel of her blouse and the winter style of her boots complement this transition to a new season.
Although we may want to rush into the season and whip out our flip flops and skirts, we still have to take it easy. London has fickle weather and can easily change within seconds. It’s always important to pack an umbrella even if the sun is shining in a cloudless sky outside. But, even with this temperamental weather you can manage to sneak some spring into your outfit. Like this week’s Fashionista you can add some light fabrics or floral items to your everyday wardrobe. No matter if the weather turns gray, with your outfit you’ll feel as though you’re in the midst of spring.
