“Today, there will be a chance of rain.” Those words will make any Fashionista simultaneously cringe, pray to the sun gods and despise her local weatherman. In one of my favorite movies, Midnight in Paris, Owen Wilson tries to convince Rachel McAdams that walking around Paris is the best in the rain. Coming from very recent experience, I can now fully agree with Owen. Paris is always magnificent, but it is true that the rain adds a certain beauty and charm to the city of lights. So, what is something absolutely essential while in such an important place in unpredictable weather? Why, the perfect rain jacket, of course!
For many Fashionistas, an umbrella saves the day when the rain starts to come down. For those who live in big cities and crowded areas like Paris, umbrellas can be almost impossible to use without taking out the eye of the person next to you! I spotted this Fashionista while shopping by the original and iconic Chanel store in Paris. She agreed that a rain jacket was essential to stay dry and stylish.
My favorite part about this jacket is the slight details that make it fashionable, while remaining practical. It includes touches of light pink and a ruffle detail along the pocket. This adds to the Fashionista’s classic Parisian look, along with her vintage sunglasses for when the sun decides to shine again. She also prepared for the weather to become cooler after the rain by wearing simple black tights underneath her printed dress. Wearing a plain dress in the cooler weather? Why not try a fun pair of patterned tights? Just make sure you choose a pair that complements your individual look without overwhelming it. Last but not least, If you don’t have a pair of rain boots available, no worries! With a dress and tights, flats are always a casual and comfortable way to finalize your outfit — just beware of puddles and steer clear of fast cars near the sidewalks!
When in any beautiful place or when facing any busy day, be confident and ready to experience all that it has to offer — rain or shine. Just invest in some essential items to stay dry and mix them in with your normal outfit to look prepared and undeniably fashionable. As they say in France, “Au Revoir,” Fashionistas! From Paris, With Love.
