FASHION FROM ABROAD: Parisian-Chic

Well, I have finally arrived in the City of Lights! I am super excited to be spending a month in Paris to study. Hopefully this trip will improve my French-speaking abilities as well as my knowledge of art history. But, before I get into full on study mode, I decide to do a bit of shopping in the trendy Le Marais district. Le Marais is known for its fashion houses, cute cafes and art galleries.

As I window shopped through the narrow streets, I spotted a Fashionista buying some frozen yogurt on a hot summer’s day. She is wearing the most adorable plaid baby doll dress. She pairs the dress with comfortable Birkenstocks and a navy Longchamp bag. She tells me that, like myself, she is also taking French classes at the local university in St. Germain. What I love about her ensemble is that it is conservative enough to wear to a class or a church field trip in the city. It is short enough to wear when one is doing a bit of shopping out in the streets. It is around 90 degrees, after all. Another plus about this outfit is about how stylish plaid is. Designers like Marni, Miu Miu and Band of Outsiders have incorporated tartan prints for their respected fall 2015 collections. It is such a versatile print since you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion.

Captured: I ran into this Fashionista at the corner of Rue St. Merri and Rue de Temple in the 3rd arrondissement in Paris.
