I am finally at home in the city I have been dreaming about since I received my acceptance letter this past October. Upon our arrival to our flat, my five roommates and I filled our small closets with traveling essentials and collectively shoved our empty suitcases beneath our beds where they will remain for the four months we’ll be living in London. The city that houses Burberry, Hunter Boots and the newest royal style icon, Kate Middleton (swoon), is finally at my fingertips. I grabbed my camera and headed out to the streets where there was no shortage of fashion inspiration waiting for me. Confidence and eagerness told me I wouldn’t need a map and I found myself blissfully lost in a slew of university campuses. Here I spotted my first Fashionista, poised and prepared for the chill of a foggy English morning in her fur coat. After talking to her, I learned that it was a vintage find at Spitafields Market. Thankfully I left our conversation with insight to shopping in London and will now be on the hunt for similar treasures.
Originally from France, this London university student rocked her fur coat, which never fails to look elegant. Matched with leggings and booties, this outfit is ladylike and sophisticated enough for everyday wear. Paired with simplistic jewelry and a watch, she is refined and polished for class. Furs can be dressy for nights out but equally as practical for daily wear during the winter months.
The spring 2013 essentials in this Fashionista’s closet included vintage furs, Topshop leggings, boots and woolen scarves. Seems as though my wardrobe will be making a transition to unique pieces after my visit to the market this weekend. London, you never cease to amaze me.
