FASHION FROM ABROAD: Not-So-Wild Australia

The Southern Hemisphere is truly a beauty. I am on a family vacation in Sydney, Australia, and I must say that I am incredibly impressed by the city. From buildings to parks, from the cuisine to the people, everything about Sydney seems elegant and exquisite. Even though I was season-confused when I first got there, it was refreshing to see some scarves and sweaters being worn. Since the seasons in the Southern Hemisphere are reversed, it is now winter in Australia.

This Fashionista was on her winter break, and she decided to go for a casual stroll in the Royal Botanic Gardens, right next to the famous Sydney Opera House. She wore a pure white knitted sweater with a simple knitted scarf, matched with a pair of skinny jeans and black tall boots. She carefully accessorized with a small, golden heart-shaped necklace, an oversized ring and a black leathered purse. Overall, her outfit looks chic and modern, just like the city she lives in.

I noticed that the people in Sydney love to wear black or white, two classic colors. I couldn’t keep track of how many black trench coats or white sweaters I saw just walking down the street. Maybe their tendency to wear more muted colors is to complement their colorful city and lifestyle. I honestly expected some more bold and extravagant street style in Australia, but I was pleasantly surprised by the clean look and grace of their fashion. This Fashionista’s outfit is a perfect example of Sydney fashion: warm and cozy but sophisticated and classy.
