If I have learned anything in London, it is that boots are in year round, shorts can be worn in any type of weather, leather should be incorporated into everything and you must own at least ten pairs of tights. In these past three months, I have expanded my wardrobe enough to pass as a native on the busy streets. This Friday I found another study abroad student shopping for flowers, dressed in her own take on London fashion. This stunning Fashionista took London’s quintessential items and incorporated them into her own bohemian vibe.
Nothing has stopped Londoners from wearing shorts. Not the cold front that is sweeping through, or the endless amount of rain we are expecting. Shorts have moved from a seasonal item to year-round versatility. This Fashionista epitomizes this trend transformation with plum shorts paired with black pieces. I love this alternative hippie feel. No longer bound to traditional city chic wear, this Fashionista is looking to change it up with her own creative pieces. Chunky avant-garde jewelry and beachy waves combine exquisitely with elegant black. Lastly, she has on the iconic Chelsea Boot, a London staple in this ongoing winter battle.
So, when you study abroad there is always that temptation to fall into pattern of what everyone else is wearing. Instead, keep your own style from the states, while integrating into city fashion. Study abroad students, if your coming to London, prepare for a long winter. Create your own individual look with any pair of shorts and patterned tights!
