FASHION FROM ABROAD: Keep Calm and Mix On

Fashion From Abroad

Where I’m from, May means sunshine with warm weather and the start of long days at the beach. But, here in London things seem to functions otherwise. The sun rarely decides to make an appearance and when it does, the freezing wind makes it unbearable and miserable. One minute it feels like springtime, while the next takes you right back to the dead of winter. Wearing a dress, let alone shorts, is out of the question. But, these “Londoners” know how to dress with this temperamental weather by mixing and matching items from different seasons.

This week’s Fashionista does just that trick. To protect herself from the cool onslaught of winds she wears a cozy chocolate colored fur coat to keep warm. But, just in case the weather decides to warm slightly she sports a maroon cable knit sweater underneath. These fall and winter looks are paired with distressed, light-wash skinny jeans that are perfect for summer. She dresses up the look by wearing some trendy heels, pointed toe and ankle strap with color blocking. The relaxed messy bun and the red lipstick provide a fun contrast along with the rest of her outfit. Her statement necklace, bag and sunglasses pull the look together for a fancy yet casual ensemble.

By switching up the seasons, textures and adding in a formal element, this Fashionista makes this outfit ready for any occasion at any time of year. You can easily shed the coat for a lighter jacket or switch to some boots for a rainy day. You can mix and match pieces from your own seasons to create a year round outfit, even if where you from is mostly sunny. No matter when or where you are, by mixing it up you’re sure to turn some heads and be ready for anything!
