FASHION FROM ABROAD: Island-Chic

I’m going to start this article by saying something that I’ve already made a point about in my last few ones. Trends here in Cyprus are completely different than those of my beloved New York. In simple terms, the way people dress here is the polar opposite of the way I’m used to seeing people dress back in the concrete jungle. Casual wear here connotes a casual that’s probably 10 times more informal and simplistic than the casual that us New Yorkers are used to (yup, that means black on black on black on black isn’t that appealing to people here #SayWhaaat).

What I personally find myself most intrigued by here is people’s ability to mix and match very bohemian, summery pieces with more fun and chic ones to create looks that combine elements and trends from various styles and also different parts of the world. Island chic is on a whole new level here and this, my friends, is what I like and enjoy the most about fashion here.

This Fashionista’s look is perfect. It’s ideal for both day and night, as it doesn’t fail to stand out in a crowd and catch everyone’s attention. Bright colors, whimsical prints and major trends are all evident in this beautiful outfit and this is undoubtedly the reason why this Fashionista’s look is so unique and trendy. She’s wearing a bright coral loose shirt with a very special hemline at the top and a pair of wide leg pants that are super fun and summery because of their print. As for her shoes, she’s wearing a pair of white flip flops that make the look even more laid back and relaxed. For her accessories that unquestionably complete the outfit, she’s picked out a simple pair of silver hoop earrings, a baby blue statement necklace, a couple of colorful bracelets and a gorgeous black leather fringe cross-body bag.

Could it possibly get any better than this? I don’t think so. High-five, girl.

Captured: This Fashionista was spotted in the city of Nicosia, which is the capital of Cyprus (fun fact: there’s no beach here!).
