In the past couple of years, Riga has slowly grown into a cyclist city. Not as crazy and crowded as Amsterdam or Copenhagen, but still. You can see people buzzing around the city on their bikes from early spring till late autumn. The most enthusiastic cyclists even ride in winter (despite the freezing winds, 20 cm of snow and extremely cold temperatures). So in the last couple of days while walking down the city streets, I was thinking–what do you wear when you want to ride your bike and look good?
It was not long till I found my answer. I met this Fashionista on her way to a brunch with friends. What attracted my attention, was her wearing a striped maxi dress on a bike and looking fabulous and not awkward at all. Turns out, it’s one of the best things you can wear on a hot summer day because a short dress always reveals something extra (if you know what I mean, wink).
This Fashionista has paired it with a Diesel denim jacket but I would suggest something like this multi-colored jacket or a cropped leather jacket for colder days. As for footwear, you can wear anything from gladiator sandals to high-heel platforms.
If you are just going out for a ride around the city or without a destination, where you have to arrive dressed up, try leggings with a shirt dress. It’s this Fashionista’s favorite thing to wear when riding a bike. She prefers Latvian designers QooQoo leggings, which truly are a work of art. My favorites were the seaweed and Sunday cloud designs.
Of course, don’t forget about your bike and accessorize it too! I’ve noticed that cute little baskets with massive plastic flowers in front, adds a really cute and chic extra to your look.
So hop on your bikes and let’s meet on the streets!
