Fashion From Abroad

On a recent trip to Greece during my spring break, I got to experience the architectural beauty of the acropolis located in the famous city of Athens. These ancient ruins date back to the fourth millennium BC and include famous landmarks such as the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike. Ancient Greek fashion dated back to this period as well, and clothing worn at this time is still carried on hundreds of thousands of years later.

In general, Greek fashion was very influential and is still used today as inspiration for looks from top designers. Whether it is bold colors and details or gold jewelry and wrapped dresses, these trends are some essential parts of many clothing styles.

When I spotted this Fashionista outside of the Parthenon she immediately caught my attention with her sophisticated Grecian look. During the ancient times, women wore dresses or skirts down to their ankles in a very loose fitted way. Her olive green skirt flows and is aesthetically pleasingly on her body. Maxi dresses and skirts are now a part of everyday wear. Apparently the Greek women started the maxi dress a long time ago.

Ancient Greek women also really liked to wear jewelry; the flashier the better. This jewelry ranged from bracelets to earrings and even brooches. The statement necklace worn by this Fashionista really stood out to me because of its semiprecious stones and dazzling gems. Her all gold jewelry and accessories look great together and really dress up her outfit. All in all this is a great outfit for sightseeing, especially in Athens. The casual and comfy clothes with dressier gold and colored accessories are a great look for snapping the perfect picture in Greece.
