FASHION FROM ABROAD: Classic Combinations

Fashion From Abroad

As I continue my journey through London I have found myself drawn into many beautiful stores, countless welcoming pubs and quaint cafes for tea, but nothing catches my eye more than the residents of London and what they have fashioned themselves with this season. We are all bundled for these winter months under peacoats, hats and scarves but nevertheless, Fashionistas/os’ styles still shine through.

After I braved the rarity of snow this Monday, I headed back into my daily routine of exploration. I found myself sitting on the steps of the National Gallery, entertained by the street performers, when I spotted these two Londoners on their way from lunch. I have been combining all my layers in order to keep warm, though I don’t think I have been looking quite as put together.

Both girls chose black tights under feminine skirts, yet the overall anatomy of their outfits varied greatly. The Fashionista on the left keeps warm with bohemian layers over a skater skirt, and under textured sweaters her bejeweled collar peeks through, adding to her colorful composition. Lastly, sharing my obsession with hats, she completes her look with an artistic bowler hat. The other Fashionista combines sophistication with edge through a button-down, combat boots and creative necklace. These ladies are keeping it casual and fun for a day in the city, while still making a statement about their own unique tastes and personality. Express yourself similarly with some old sweaters you thought were outdated but can be brought back to life when paired with the latest trends. Or, if you prefer a more classical approach, find your mother’s timeless button-downs and fashion it into something new with bold accessories. Sometimes revisiting the back of your closet is the best place to find inspiration!
