FASHION FROM ABROAD: Because of The Wyn

Personal style is all about wearing what you want to wear, and Wynwood is a breeding house for letting people’s personal style flourish. For those not familiar with the area, Wynwood is essentially an art district in Miami, Florida. It is most famously known for its extravagant walls painted by muralists from across the globe. Also, it’s best known for being one of the major locations for Miami’s annual art festival called Art Basel.

Being a native South Floridian, Wynwood is place that I hit up any chance I get! Every time I go, I’m seemingly surrounded by people who are exercising their right to be fashionable, but based on their own definition of the word. However, on my latest adventure to the “Wyn,” I didn’t have to look far to spot a true Fashionisto.

As we were walking through the walls, I noticed how unique this Fashionisto’s outfit was. He was sporting a plain black v-neck with slightly acid washed black jeans and his favorite pair of New Balance shoes to match. His accessories of a denim shirt (tied around his waist), a Ralph Lauren Polo hat, and a subtle yet staple gold chain truly made his look one of a kind and distinguishable as his own personal style.

In conversation, this Fashionisto described to me that one of the main aspects that drives his creative pursuits is individuality. With Donald Glover a.k.a Childish Gambino being one of his favorite creators, he talked about how Glover is never afraid to be himself and how important it is for him to be individual as well.

To sum things up, when you’re in a creative space, creative fashion choices won’t be far behind. Even if you’re not in place like Wynwood, don’t be afraid to wear what you want to wear, and most importantly, be you!
