In the past two months, I have passed by London’s University of the Arts campus everyday on my way home. In this five minute walk, there is always a gathering of well-dressed students coming in and out. I constantly admire their different usage of color and texture in their clothing. These students are studying design — how could their wardrobe be anything but creative? It was my pleasure to run into this fashionable pair, who were sporting vintage and handmade items.
This Fashionista and Fashionisto’s artistic passions feed into their everyday wear. From their multi-colored hair to their vintage jackets, you can see the originality and imaginative talent in their work. Their outfits have become a canvas for individualistic designs and invention. What you wear represents your life and how you live it. I couldn’t have found a better pair to sum up this statement.
This Fashionista, leaving class on her way to work, is sporting a bomber jacket handed down to her from her mother. It’s oversized and pre-worn, making it a chic ode to 60s fashion wear. Additionally, a masculine tie and brief case frames her outfit for the work place. The bold make-up and beautiful hues of purple hair wrapped in pearls enrich her already standout outfit. This Fashionisto is wearing his very own textured creation on top, in addition to a trench coat and high-waisted trousers. A round of applause for this fashion-enthusiast for creating his own gorgeous design and confidently flaunting his own work. Fashion is all about self-expression for these two. They both agreed on the importance of novel finds and not blending into the mold of what everyone is wearing.
So, to live like this Fashionista and Fashionisto. Don’t feel inclined to always stick to runway style, but rather focus on your favorite items and experiment! Dig back into mom and dad’s closets to find those secret fashion items they couldn’t bear to throw away. Fashion is constantly recycling and evolving. Resorting back to older styles might eventually bring about the newest and hottest tends!
