FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Tiffany Adler

Fashionista Spotlight

I have to say out of all the trends of fall, I have yet to hear about one item that can easily sum up fall fashion, the vest. This week’s Fashionista was able to show a sense of sophistication by keeping it simple with a perfectly chosen vest to complete her look. Not only does she demonstrate an easy to achieve outfit, but she also shows that accessorizing can truly bring out the simplicity in an outfit.

Name: Tiffany Adler

Year: Junior

Major: Interior Design

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?

Tiffany Adler: I’m wearing boots and socks from Target. My jeans are high-wasted from Levis. I have a belt from a random thrift store. My shirt is American Apparel and my vest was borrowed from a friend.

CF: What are your methods of shopping while you're in college?

TA: I always go to the thrift shop. I like Goodwill, Mercy House and sometimes Target.

CF: Has Harrisonburg changed your style at all while going to James Madison?

TA: I'm definitely more about comfort. I've gotten into more neutral tones unless I’m getting ready to go out at night.

CF: Do you and your friends inspire each other when it comes to style?

TA: Yes, definitely. They've inspired me to be more expressive and sophisticated. I try to go for classic looks. I’m not a big fan of trendy. I’d prefer to keep it simple.

CF: How would you describe your style and how has it evolved while at James Madison?

TA: I mix and match a lot now. For me, whatever is easy to put together I’ll splurge on basic things I know I can mix and match with everything.

CF: What tips can you give students when dressing for comfort?

TA: If you're wearing a lot of simple things, people could easily piece an outfit together based on accessories. Don’t over do it.

How To: The key to this Fashionista’s look is her vest. Personally, a thrift store seems like the best option and if you search hard you might be able to find a vest with a little flair. If a buttoned vest is too minimal, try one with some fringe or other embellishment.
