A Fashionista stands out instantly from all the rest. I'd like to say this week's Fashionista did just that with her bright color blocked blouse. There was no way anyone could say this week's Fashionista didn't stand out from the crowd. This Fashionista made a statement from head to toe and I was lucky enough to talk to her to get all the scope on her behind the scene inspirations for this outfit.
Name: Maura Stackley
Major: Business Management
Year: Senior
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
Maura Stackley: My blouse, skirt and necklace are all from J.Crew. My flats are brown and are Target.
CF: How would you describe your style?
MS: I would describe myself to dress very preppy yet very sophisticated. I'm all about a clean-cut look.
CF: Is there anyone or anything that inspires you to up your sophisticated looks?
MS: I'm a huge Pinterest fan. I always look at the women’s fashion on my timeline and take the ideas people post and work with what I have in my closet. I’m really into looking at what stylists put together for actors on TV shows as well but Pinterest is definitely my go-to for inspiration.
CF: What advice would you give to college students dressing up for presentations or interviews without looking boring?
MS: Pick a bright color that would make you stand out that’s appropriate for what you're trying to portray. Even if you don’t have a statement piece with pops of color or patterns, a plain outfit with statement jewelry will definitely do the job.
CF: What’s a go-to statement piece you’d like to give your peers insight on?
MS: I personally think a chunky necklace keeps a wardrobe contained and has a finishing touch to it.
How To: This week’s Fashionista makes a statement with her bright blouse. Try a block of color that complements your skin tone and a skirt that has a cool pattern to complement that block of color. If you dont have access to a nicely patterned skirt, try some nice statement jewlery that really ads some depth to the outfit. A statement necklace is a nice finishing touch to complete such an easy and fun outfit. If none of these options are working out, don't forget to look at Pinterest. This social media outlet seems to be an artboard of creativity for any Fashionista to grab a look from.
