Pressed for time with so much to do, I was really worried I wouldn’t find this week Fashionista. However, our Fashionista stuck out in her ruby red coat as she walked down the hall approaching my classroom where the rest of our classmates were waiting to take an excruciating midterm. For those that are reading and have kept up with my posts know that I am a huge lace fanatic as well as holding an endless collection of pea coats (in many different colors). This weeks Fashionista automatically got my approval as she was able to make her spring time lace dress a fall fashion with her fall light-weighted pea coat and adorable oxford boots to finish.
Name: Maggie Roth
Year: Sophomore
Major: Media Art and Design
CollegeFasshionista: What are you wearing?
Maggie Roth: Okay, so my oxford boots are from London that I picked up in a market. I’m wearing black tights, a white lace dress from Forever 21 and a button down jean shirt from American Eagle Outfitters. This red pea coat is my favorite. I got it from Forever 21 over in London as well. The earrings I got from my Mom’s jewelry box.
CF: Who would you consider to be your favorite fashion icon?
MR: I would have to say Penelope Cruz. I think she’s beautiful and I love her clothes. She has a certain sexiness about her without being over the top.
CF: If you were able to select any celebrity wardrobe to raid, who would it be?
MR: That’s a great question. I would have to say Blair from Gossip Girl even though she is technically a character and not a celebrity. To myself Blair always has a preppy look and dresses very mature and age appropriate as well as always being well put together.
CF: Now that we know whose closet you’d love to raid, do you mind telling the students at James Madison what your all time fall necessities are to your own closet?
MR: No doubt in my mind can I leave out scarves. Scarves are the necessity to my fall wardrobe as well as my red coat I got from England. I also like a nice pair of leather boots. I love layers. The more layers the better. Being able to pull out actual pieces of clothing are the best.
CF: What advice can you give to college students who are getting ready to go to class?
MR: I would have to say dress up for class. It makes you feel so much better. It helps me get my day started and not only do I feel better, but I feel more productive.
How To: All though I love lace dresses, what makes this weeks Fashionista fall appropriate is the layer of her button-down jean shirt. This makes me excited because for all those that love lace now have a reason to wear it year around. This week’s Fashionista does a great job mixing her lace with leather oxford boots, but why not mix lace with some studs? Whatever you choose, pull your outfit all together with a colored pea coat that compliments your lace dress.
