FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Lauren Davis

Fashionista Spotlight

One of my favorite discoveries when talking to a Fashionista is how sbe found or put together her outfit. Every time without fail I'm always surprised. This week's Fashionista is a Philadelphian whose trends are now inspired from abroad. Her outfit is a proven testimony that pulling together a great outfit can come from all prices, places and decades. Let’s hear it for this week’s Fashionista for looking fabulous and doing it all without putting a dent in her wallet.

Name: Lauren Davis

Year: Senior

Major: Psychology

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?

Lauren Davis: I'm wearing brown leather lace up boots I got from Italy while studying abroad and yellow skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters. A blue button-up my Mom wore in the 80s and underneath that a T-shirt from The Who. My sweater is two years old from H&M and my watch is actually from Walmart. Both my necklace and earrings are from a thrift store. Oh yeah, and my bag I got from Italy as well.

CF: How would you describe your style?

LD: It’s honestly all very random. It depends on the day. I would say overall very vintage though. My friend says I have a Seattle Grunge look even though I’m not exactly sure what that means.

CF: You say you're somewhat into vintage fashion; is there anyone you look up to as a fashion icon that inspires your looks?

LD: Zooey Deschanel I definitely look to for inspiration. She has a 50s look that brings back old trends. She to me is very sexy in a really cute way without over revealing herself.

CF: Has Harrisonburg changed your style at all after living in a city like Philadelphia?

LD: It has honestly hasn’t changed me at all. I started to really be inspired with fashion and changed my look a little once I got to Italy. The fashion out there is incredible.

CF: What fashion trends from Italy have you brought over back to small Harrisonburg?

LD: That’s really easy. The blazer look is like the staple of their trends right now. Back in Italy you always see people dressing up, always looking well put together. Now that I’m back at home I still try to dress from head to toe. The blazer is definitely my favorite look though.

CF: What stores did you shop at in Italy while you were there?

LD: Zara is really big in Italy. I shopped there a lot and they have a U.S. website as well.

CF: After being back from Italy do you still shop in the same stores?

LD: Yeah, I really love Urban Outfitters even though they're really expensive. Most of the time I will go on their website and look at their inspired looks and pick what I like from their and search for it else where.

How To: The mustard pants this week’s Fashionista is wearing is a highly promised and successful purchase. I have a pair of them myself and they're the perfect complement for a blazer. As for this Fashionista’s accessories, her bag I’m sure can be found anywhere but Fossil has great leather bags that are a lifetime investment. To get this grungy Seattle look try these pair of warn in boots with a blue button-down.
