FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Christie White

Fashionista Spotlight

What a rainy day it was while heading to my first class of the week. Pressed for time and little to no hope of finding a Fashionista, I had one particular person in mind. This week’s Fashionista is in several of my major courses and whether it's an 8 a.m. class or a dreaded three-hour course, she's always dressed to impress. Maybe this is because she's from my lovely hometown of Annapolis, and that's why I identify with her style so much. Hoping I could find her, as I knew she would still look impeccable even though it was raining cats and dogs, she was actually the first person I saw walking through the doors. In fact, she was not only well dressed, but had an appropriate weather accessory in her hand. Not to mention her personality matched her bright and charismatic attitude during the interview. This week’s Fashionista shows us that even on a rainy day, there's no excuse to dress down.

Name: Christie White

Year: Junior

Major: Media Art and Design

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?

Christie White: Okay so my boots are Franco Sarto. I’m wearing jeans and a scarf from H&M, a cardigan and tank from Nordstrom Rack, and a watch I really love from Fossil.

CF: How would you describe your style?

CW: Eclectic, I change it each day. I go from cowboy boots to combat depending on my mood. Oh yea, I’m very comfy library chic as well.

CF: What’s the one trend you're excited about for fall?

CW: Polka dots! I’m obsessed with this trend even though I don’t own any yet, but I definitely want some. Fall boots are a must, as you can’t go wrong with them and anything cheetah print!

CF: Has Harrisonburg changed your style?

CW: Yes, in Annapolis I think people are more accepting of a free spirited style. I think Harrisonburg is a lot more reserved and sometimes tends to make me dress that way as well. Being back home makes me more daring. Sometimes I get a few stares if I’m considered over dressed.

CF: If you could raid a celebrities closet who would it be?

CW: Blake Lively, Whitney Port, Emma Stone, and Zooey Deschanel.

CF: Would you rather shop or purchase and why?

CW: I like to shop and I don’t mean necessarily buy everything. I see what's new and then go to the thrift stores to shop and see what I can find that’s similar and much cheaper.

CF: Tell us some of your online stores you love to shop at since your away from home.

CW: I really love online shopping. I spend my time online looking at Nordstrom Rack. They have cute boots. I look at Fossil's website for cute bags and Urban Outfitters.

How To: This weeks Fashionista shows us how to look cheery and put together even in dreary weather. Her accessory, an umbrella, is one of my favorites. This umbrella is great with surrounded protection and coordinates with anything. Try a nice ivory sweater to keep warm and any personable scarf to brighten the dreary mood.
