FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Cait Baker

Fashionista Spotlight

This week's Fashionista I personally know. It was quite the coincidence when I tapped her on the shoulder while in line for ice cream asking if I could interview her; I didn’t know it would be one of my mentees for a class I'm assisting with. She was dressed for a robotics competition we are running for in December and looked fabulous. I'm a huge fan of lace, and the fact her lace dress was a mixture of fall colors was mesmerizing to my eye. But not only was her dress tasteful, our interview was interesting as well. This week’s Fashionista told me about all the local boutiques to shop at in Harrisonburg, which left me very impressed not only by her style but her knowledge of the local fashion. Read on to get schooled!

Name:Caitlin Baker

Major: Psychology

Year:
Senior

College Fashionista: What are you wearing?

Caitlin Baker: I'm wearing an Xhilaration dress from Target, hue stockings and Audrey Brooke Perry booties from DSW and a Dooney and Bourke north/south triple zip side bag from Macy's

CF: Would you say your look today describes your overall style?

CB: I would; I like to be presentable and respectful but also like to show a little edge or make some kind of statement. My mood also factors into what I wear so you can usually tell how I'm doing based off of what I'm wearing.

CF: What stores do you shop at that really represents your general style?

CB: I really love Target! I also love going into town and shopping at boutiques in Harrisonburg. I usually go to Duo and the Yellow Button. My two favorite stores to shop at are Downtown Cowgirl and South Moon Under. I love Rachel Bilson's style and am so jealous of her closet.  Her shoes are absolutely incredible. Choosing shoes are my favorite part of getting dressed.

CF: As it gets colder in the Shenandoah Valley, how do you motivate yourself to dress up and not fall into the trend of sweatpants?

CB: It's definitely hard to stay motivated and there are definitely days when I bum it out for my 8 o’clock but when I put in effort I feel a lot more productive and the day is usually a lot better!

How To: This week's Fashionista shows us that lace dresses can have more then one splash of color. You can find this Fashionista’s dress online or if this dress is too colorful for you, solid tones are fine as well. I have always been a big fan of lace and boots, and this week's Fashionista nailed this look.  As far as her cross body bag, I'm a huge fan; I even have one myself. It's great for quick on the go occasions when you don’t feel like carrying much.
