Ann Arbor weekends can be full of everything, from hours at the library (nay!) to shopping and brunch (yay!). I’ll admit that I’ve fallen into the trap that is: not changing your clothes for two days because hey, it’s the weekend! Why do anything that resembles productivity when you have weeks of The Colbert Report to catch up on? However, we’re “adults” now, and that means not only changing your clothes as you transition from Saturday into Sunday, but actually putting in effort. We can do this. You can do this. While I understand that everyone wants to relax on the weekends, this doesn’t mean you need to stoop to sartorial indifference.
Chambray tops have been a staple in almost everyone’s closet since emerging this past fall from the depths of mid-western farms and onto waify girls with rad style (fashion is weird). While a classic wash is adorable, it’s starting to become tired. I instantly spotted the embroidered print on this Fashionista’s light wash chambray, which was so perfectly contrasted against her green military jacket. The white embroidery on the top is a nice way of bringing spring into your winter wardrobe. Her rolled up, dark skinny jeans also help to make the light wash pop out even more, as well as aesthetically break up the pieces so the top and bottom don’t merge to form some pseudo-denim jumpsuit. We’ll save that trend for another season…
Despite the fact that there is still some snow on the ground, this Fashionista opts for some of the coolest flatform creepers my eyes have ever fallen witness to. Really, the snow probably parts as she walks. Her Creepers (yes, I hear it) are like the edgy, winter version of what was showcased in Chanel’s resort 2013 collection back in May. These are the things that impress me. I am also impressed by this Fashionista’s ability to take current trends and give them a revamp — which easily enough, is the perfect way to revamp your weekend wardrobe.
One Simple Change: Swap the creepers with some combat boots for the days when the snow refuses to part as you walk, despite how cool your shoes are.
