In exam season, everybody seems to be wearing an outfit that screams out for comfort. Tracksuits bounce up and down library hallways and unkempt hair and makeup free faces with bags bursting with books make their way to and from the computer cluster. Nobody seems to realise that it is easier than it seems to pull off comfort and style all in the same outfit. This Fashionista, however, leads the charge. Her look is messy yet pulled together by its colours.
First, leggings will always be comfortable. They do not always have to be black and boring, however. A patterned pair of leggings will make a statement while doing their job of providing the ultimate comfort. This week’s Fashionista has trodden out with a pair of Jack Wills on that were hugging her legs. For those who want to combine leggings and a spring floral pattern, American Apparel has the perfect combination of the two.
Next we move onto the cardigan, which adds an interesting change in pattern – spots and stripes on an outfit? It can be done. The spots on the leggings are subtle and the stripes on the cardigan are the same colour as the top. It is very hard to pull a pattern change off, but stick to the colour coordination along with a subtle print and there you have it. The cardigan is loose fitting and casual, which is perfect for long haul days at the library.
Finally, the accessories are the pieces that make the outfit pop. The brown bag complements the blue of the leggings perfectly and provides a different colour. I know I say this all the time, but check out the men’s section in clothes shops. Man satchels tend to be bigger with more compartments and less embellishment. River Island has some lovely satchels for very cheap prices. Check out their yellow one for a real statement bag! Her flip flops are a nod to the lovely weather we’ve been having recently. Why not enjoy beach clothes in the library to feel better about staying in while the sun is shining? They also add to the bag, being both brown. Finally we have the sunglasses, which are an easy way to mask tired eyes.
And, for our most important accessory, just in case you didn’t believe this Fashionista has her head down at the library right this instant, a massive can of energy drink to complete the look!
