FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Hannah Harper

Fashionista Spotlight

The holidays have arrived. Sayonara sweatpants, bye-bye book bags, farewell finals!

It’s time to bust out your winter’s best, and nothing says “Happy holidays” more than a festive red. Dressed in otherwise muted colors, this Fashionista was full of the holiday spirit with her red satin top, layered under a black mini-blazer and quintessential Alexander McQueen skull scarf. She kept it simple, with extra touches of red on her nails and lips. It was a sophisticated look, complete with a structured handbag and knee-high boots. Très chic!

Name: Hannah Harper

Major: History

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?

Hannah Harper: Free-spirited and edgy. I wear whatever I feel like wearing; sometimes it’ll be more preppy and elegant, other days a little more rocker. I love mixing styles to come up with an outfit that’s totally me.

CF: What inspires your style?

HH: I suppose my mood, primarily. How I dress really depends on how I feel. Other than that, just everyday observations — I love seeing what other people wear and thinking [about] how I could adapt that to my own closet.

CF: Any advice for your fellow CollegeFashionistas?

HH: Dress for yourself and for your body type. I’m pretty petite, so there are outfits that just won’t look good on me. It’s a lot of trial and error, but once you figure it out, stay away from the trends that don’t flatter your body.

How To: I’m a huge fan of adding a pop of color to an outfit. A festive top or bright nail polish can really complete a look. Just remember to keep the rest of the outfit simple. Follow this Fashionista’s example and try out a pop of red this holiday season. For the fairer Fashionistas, find a top that’s more burgundy than cherry red, like this one from French Connection. If you’ve got rich, dark hair, try a bright red scarf for an awesome contrast. And if you’re feeling bold, go for some red lipstick. Find a shade that suits your skin tone, and voilà — sultry, festive and oh so kissable!
