STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Anchors Away

Style Advice of the Week

Finals week is upon us, and so is some grim and gloomy weather. We all know how easy it is to throw on our favorite sweatpants to head to class, but there is always a way to look stylish for class without sacrificing the comfort that is necessary this time of year.

This week’s Fashionista dresses for a rainy day with a navy and white anchor sweater and bright yellow weather-vest. Her personal style shows through not only on the graphic print, comfortable sweater, but also with her unique, vintage vest that adds some color and flair. All finished simply with some jeans, this outfit is the epitome of comfy chic.

The anchor, one of my favorite motifs, has always been a classic summer print on dresses, tees and even embroidered on chinos. This year we have seen the anchor integrated into more fall and winter products as well, adding a surprising graphic to cold-weather clothes. To try a look like this week’s Fashionista, try this simple navy anchor sweater by Joie. For a lighter T-shirt option, try this Worn by Anchor long jersey tee that can be worn over leggings with boots for a day in the library. Another easy item to layer for cold days is this anchor print cardigan by J.Crew. On a similar note, one of my favorite winter accessories this year is the J.Crew anchor scarf with graphic detailing at both ends. If you are not all about anchors, try a different graphic print pullover like this cream “bonjour” sweater from ASOS. Try a few of these items to add some bold nautical flair to your outfit this season and make a fashion-forward statement with simple, comfortable clothes.
