The name is Ellie Maye, you can call me Ellie Maye. I am a Marketing major at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, and could not be more excited about having the opportunity to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this summer. I would describe myself as a creative, optimistic and and independent person who is driven by inspiration and individuality. I have (literally) danced my way through the last 19 years of my life, and believe there is never an inappropriate time to bust a move. Besides dance, fashion is another passion of mine; I believe I have a good eye for trends and styles, and admire those who push the limits and dare to be different. I choose to live my life passionately and fearlessly, and feel as though my style reflects this choice. Clothes are an extension of our personalities, cultures and most importantly, ourselves. They portray to the world what words cannot form, and simply spell out “this is me today.”
My style is ever changing and constantly influenced by the world around me, the people I meet, the things I see and the experiences I have. The only consistent aspect of my style is the few trademark pieces that seem to always find their way into my outfits: a tattered, vintage jean jacket, oversized Free People sweaters, short leather boots, high-waisted cutoff jeans shorts and a rose gold Michael Kors watch. I like to imagine the world of fashion as a boundless canvas for creativity and innovation, waiting for those who dare to explore it. Being a Fashionista is much like being a dancer. I only feel passionate about things that are a source of infinite exploration and adventure, and like dance, fashion will never stop moving forward, sideways, backwards, up, down or in circles.
