Just like history, fashion repeats itself; and much like shoulder pads and high-waist pants, wearing denim-on-denim is now a trending style that makes your mom feel really cool for rocking it in her prime. We all remember the days when sporting a fanny pack, wrapping your jacket around your waist or wearing denim-on-denim was an unthinkable fashion crime and social suicide. But times have changed, and you better get a new watch — maybe even one of these once dorky digital ones from American Apparel (which happen to be totally in!).
This Fashionista is sweetly styled in a denim-on-denim ensemble, and absolutely rocks it. She has a jean jacket worn over a denim shirt that she cuffed together at the sleeves, which perfectly pulls the two pieces together. Her sequin shorts are amazing and add a city-chic feel to her down-to-earth look. Jean jackets and demin shirts are popping up everywhere and are such versatile pieces — everything from city-chic, western flare, bohemian or grunge, denim is an easy style to work with. Cutoff jean shorts and sleeveless jean vests are a very popular summer trend and perfect staple pieces for pulling off this look.
Especially during fall 2013, denim-on-denim will be a very cool look to experiment with. As this Fashionista instinctively knew, when creating an outfit it is important to match with two different shades of denim; you don’t want to look like your sporting a jean jumpsuit. However, I bite my tongue when I say that because nowadays, you honestly never know what could be cool and trendy. So make your mama proud and try out this look!
