I’m Elle McPherson, senior at Queens University in Kingston Ontario Canada majoring in Art History. I am thrilled to return to the CollegeFashionista team this season. I’m sure many of you share my sentiments, when I say the school year is flying by.
This fall, amidst the blur that is an undergrad, I had the opportunity to stop and speak to a handful of the most fashionable, and interesting Fashionista/os Queens U has to offer. I relished the opportunity to go one step past admiring an amazing outfit from a distance. I found out what inspires a look, and quickly learned that fashion is not only a dominant interest on campus, but it is also deeply influencing academic and personal aspirations within youth culture, fostering links with art and media. The creative face of the workplace is changing at a rapid pace, and it’s all starting here on your university campus.
On a lighter note, fashion is a great way of finding joy in your every day. I love getting up in the morning to get ready. I’ll be the first to admit that I often get stuck in my usual get up of various tones and shades of black. You know it’s an exceptionally great day if you catch me in say, navy. I worship the messy bun, and I usually cling onto my oversized scarves like they will save my life. That being said, nothing snaps me out of it more quickly than spotting a Fashionista/o with great street style. So here’s to the endless seasons of runway fashion to come, and another season of tracking campus fashion and trends.
