STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Season for Red

Style Advice of the Week

It is inevitable that your environment will affect your emotions. When the weather begins to gray and the trees shed their colorful coats, the change in mood on campus is always palpable. The change in fashion is even more apparent. Almost subconsciously, Fashionistas and Fashionistos begin to mimic the gray color scheme that surrounds them. That’s why I get excited when I find a Fashionista who defies this norm. It only takes one pop of color to brighten the atmosphere and my day.

Today’s Fashionista not only rocks a lovely red pant but she also masters the art of layering. I say let the bundling begin. This girl understands that as fall gives way to the first hints of winter, layering becomes a Fashionista’s mainstay. She reminds us that cozy layers aren’t necessarily synonymous with bulk either. With a long-sleeved sweater worn underneath an oversized sweater she stays warm without the need of a coat. Her artfully wrapped scarf and black, lace-up boots tie the look together and provide a pleasing contrast to her red pants.

Have you noticed that red and burgundy seem to be the power colors this season? ASOS has even devoted a whole section of clothing to the color on their site. Add a skinny pant to your collection, like today’s Fashionista, or opt for velvet booties—perfect for the holidays or a night out with friends. You will also need to invest in a cozy scarf that can be worn a variety of ways. Versatility is key for rising above your cold circumstances. Don’t be a product of your cold environment this season. Instead, get the blood pumping with a jolt of color to your system.
