STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Serious Sweaters

Style Advice of the Week

This Fashionisto is seriously cool. And by that, I mean he has seriously cool style. It’s casual, laid back and well, thank goodness it’s not pajamas. Students really need to stop wearing them to class.

So, let’s talk. Since it’s still like 12 degrees in Chicago, everyone is still sporting their winter coats, sweaters and boots. A few looks I love (for men) from some fall 2012 collections are: chunky knits from James Long, workingmen’s wear crossed with military wear to create a single multilayered piece from Rag & Bone and coats in all grey shades from Tommy Hilfiger. Some of these outerwear pieces from the collections above are fantastic and belong in every male’s wardrobe.

This is a definite outfit recreate. I’d go with any pair of dark straight or skinny jeans. Make sure that they fit well because we can always tell when your jeans are just a little too tight. Put on a simple tee and then comes the fun part: the sweater and the coat. J.Crew has a great selection of cashmere sweaters in a bunch of different colors. Feeling like spending some cash? Order a few of these and you will be set for those really nasty, cold days. Now obviously, most of us can’t just pick up the phone, dial Tommy himself and ask for a few coats to be sent over. So, we compromise. Zara and TopShop have a great selection of coats for a decent price. I always say, invest in outwear because everyone is going to see it!
