FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Lucy Gibson

Fashionista Spotlight

Dressing for the library is not a challenging endeavor, right? Since it’s practically June, I’m tempted to thrown on running shorts and a T-shirt to camp out in a cozy study nook. It turns out that the dark, climate-controlled stacks give me some pretty chill feet when I’m trying to memorize 16th-century Flemish paintings. I was so impressed at this Fashionista’s ability to dress for the chilly library temperature without sacrificing style. Her collar, long jacket and high socks have inspired me to dress in layers the next time I hit up the Rock.

Name: Lucy Gibson

Major: Comparative Literature/Art History

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your personal sense of style?

Lucy Gibson: My father thinks I dress like Pee Wee Herman. That is probably not a far stretch from the truth (minus the red bowtie, which I find very constricting.) In general, I tend towards things that are very masculine and shroud my feminine curves. I love me some plaid trousers and button downs.

CF: What is the best tip you can give for being comfy but still looking good during finals?

LG: No bra. Absolutely no bra.

CF: What is your favorite trend or style at the moment?

LG: I’m really into aggressive eyebrows. I’m also really into toe rings.

CF: What is the best place to study on campus?

LG: The basement of the Rock. It’s delightfully forlorn.

How To:  This is a great way to show off a cute collar with a sleeveless denim shirt underneath a comfy striped sweater. If you wear this with shorts and high socks, you will feel warm in the library without feeling like you’re stuck in December. A long coat can double as a stylish touch and a blanket for your legs. No matter how you choose to wear this look, this Fashionista has proven that the challenges of finals do not have to also affect your style.
