Reporting this week from the UGA fashion merchandising tour in New York City, this weekend’s Fashionista rocks a fun and flirty daytime look. What I noticed first about this Fashionista’s outfit was the tied top. Tied shirts tend to be reminiscent of a Daisy Duke look with her iconic cut off shorts and plaid shirts. However, this Fashionista shows a new take on the tied top that has been popping up all spring. The silk fabric with ruffles makes the top undeniably feminine but the tie adds a more flirty aspect. The tied top is also a great way to show off that summer tan. A little flash of skin can be subtle and sexy without getting trashy. As the temperature continues to swelter all down the east coast showing a little skin can keep you cool. Thin fabrics like this Fashionista’s or sleeveless variations like this Topshop one can keep you cool all weekend.
Another great aspect to this top is the color. The custard hue is one of the pretty jewel tones that are all over for summer. Bright colors add a pop everywhere and these Current/Elliot boyfriend shorts are especially fun for the weekend. This Fashioista pairs her yellow with white– a summer classic perfect for day or night. Although not obvious at first this Fashionista’s shorts are eyelet. Eyelet is a summertime classic in everything from sundresses to little girls’ socks. Free People’s summer clothes have a variety of new takes on eyelet such as this tank and these pants. This Fashionista finishes off her look with beaded bracelets, aviator shades and snakeskin gladiator sandals– three more things perfect for summer. The look all together is girly and fun for a weekend anywhere from New York City to Athens.
