At last, a man who is dressed to impress in a business casual look with success! Here at Manhattan College, our men sport a variety of trends and styles. Perhaps the most common outfits are casual and offer no originality. For a typical daily outfit for class, you are likely to see athletic attire, jeans, sneakers, and simple T-shirts occupy the campus. The only time I ever see any stylish outfits are when an important event is taking place, career fairs, or when business classes have presentations. This is sad to say the least, but fortunately there are a selective group of Fashionistos on campus.
The lack of variety on my campus allowed me to spot this Fashionisto with ease. The truth is you can never go wrong with a business casual look like this one. The classic pieces incorporated in this look are sharp and are necessities that should be in every guys closet. Whether you like cardigans or blazers, there is a way to mix up the classic business casual look to match your personal style. This Fashionisto chose to wear solid colors with sophisticated fabrics as layering pieces. When the business casual look is done right, the Fashionista or Fashionisto is displaying an ambitious and aggressive demeanor.
Firstly, the fitted sportcoat added the perfect touch. Nothing to complain about the fabric, it is warm enough to brave through November weather. He looked like he just walked out of a J.Crew catalog when I saw him walking to class. The look was classic and chic, especially because of the white button down. Although layers and layers of clothing, accessories, colors, textures, etc. can make for a striking outfit, the opposite can make for the same effect. In this case, this Fashionisto was dressed sharp in a simple white button down and a dark colored sportcoat. It's always refreshing to see that classic looks can be mixed with new brands and still look crisp. It's the way the Fashionisto or Fashionista carries themselves in the simple look that makes the outfit pop or stand out in a sea of neutral basics and jeans.
Secondly, this button down and sports coat were paired perfectly with darker bottoms and boots. Another must have item is a great pair of dark wash jeas like this Fashionisto is wearing. Buckler dark jeans like these are universally accepted and are trendy staples. It is up to the Fashiosto to purchase the right pair of jeans. This Fashionisto chose a dark blue wash which are more chic and masculine compared to ripped or light wash jeans.
Lastly, he fashions old-school styling boots in a neutral color that can go practically with every outfit. They have a great worn in look that appears vintage at a glance. Red Wing, the brand of these shoes, specializes in mens footwear. All men should take this minimal look and run with it because it is super easy to pull off. Look polished, put together, and wrinkle free in your business casual attire. There is no excuse not to dress nicely for class. Set the bar for other men on campus, and show who’s really boss and ready for the work world.
