LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: In The Navy

Let's Hear it for the Boys

These fashionable friends are displaying what to wear during the ever-changing weather as we transition into fall here in Gainesville. When you may wake up to temperatures in the 40s yet manage to endure afternoons in the mid 80s, it can get a little difficult when you try to plan your day’s outfit accordingly. While these Fashionistos share a navy and khaki oriented color pallet, they definitely have their own styles.

To ensure his outfit can transition throughout the day, the Fashionisto on the right balances out layers on top with shorts on bottom. He’s wearing a lightweight sweater over a button-up, which can easily be worn with jeans or even chinos like his friend is wearing for when temperatures really start to drop. Another great piece to have when it cools down is a cashmere sweater. They can definitely be a bit of an investment when on a college budget, but it is one worth making because it can be worn in so many ways and for so many occasions. If you’re unsure of what color to get, navy or gray is a great place to start, as these colors tend to be the most wearable within wardrobes.

Alternatively, the Fashionisto on the left keeps it light on top with a simple Henley Tee, and chinos on bottom. On a chillier day, just throw on a half-zip sweater to stay warm. The half-zip sweater is another item I highly recommend splurging on because you want one that will last. It’s a piece that can be worn by itself, layered with Tee’s, button-ups, thermals and numerous other ways. Essentially, like a cashmere sweater it’s a piece that you’ll find yourself using in all sorts of situations.

Hint: When you swap the shorts for chinos, also switch out the Sperry Top-Siders for a pair of monk strap shoes to really elevate your look. You’ll look like you just stepped out of the pages of GQ with such an of-the-moment shoe choice.
